Dieters beware of Starbucks Green Tea Blendeds
Having some time on my hands, I wanted to see exactly how many calories and fat are in the Starbucks blended drinks as they did seem very sweet and rich when I tried them. The nutrition info is taken directly from Starbucks Nutrition page for their Tazo® Green Tea Frappuccino® Blended Crème with Melon Syrup. This is the grande size. As you can see, it is quite a lot. I mean 500 Calories? My goodness! I’ve seen people drinking two of these a day! 2! that’s more calories than a Big Mac which has 704 Calories and 43 grams of fat. So drinking 2 of these is similar to eating 1 big mac! oye vay!

Starbucks is great at making very tasty drink concoctions and they are definitely guilty pleasures. Keyword being guilty, but most people I have spoken to about their blended drinks, like the Frappuccinos and Creme blendeds, don’t think that there is that many calories. Afterall, these are just drinks with coffee or tea in them right? Alas, that is not always the case.
With so many new products coming out that are using green tea as the base, you have to remember that green tea is not naturally sweet. So those green tea drinks that you are drinking are most likely laced with sugar and loads of other things to make it more palatable. But there are some companies that don’t do this, or at least not as much, like Honest Tea, Republic of Tea and Steaz Soda. Many of these drinks are very tasty and naturally sweetened.
